The player who plays in the Spartak Moscow team in Russia, Quincy Promes, has been sentenced to 6 years in prison after being found guilty of selling drugs.
Promes, who once served the Dutch national team between 2014-2021, was not present when the verdict was handed down in the city of Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
Also, the 32-year-old player, who once served the Ajax Amsterdam and FC Seville teams, has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for hitting his cousin with an iron on his knees in 2020.
Quincy Promes, who has been playing for Spartak Moscow since 2021, has said he is going to appeal.
